Gregory W. Beck, CPA (Senior Principal):
Mr. Beck has extensive experience providing a variety of financial and tax accounting services to a wide range of business and individuals specializing in meeting the unique needs of non-public, closely-held businesses.
He emphasizes meeting the individual needs of businesses with a unique kind of service. Rather than an occasional tax preparer, he wants to become an integral part of your management team so that you can get the most benefit from his business knowledge and years of experience.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting from California State University at Fullerton in January 1981 and his certificate to practice as a Certified Public Accountant in May 1983.
He has served clients in manufacturing, distribution, franchising, real estate, construction, computer hardware and software, law, medicine, insurance, oil and gas, consumer services, education, not-for-profit entities, environmental testing, freight bill auditing, restaurant, engineering, clothing, telemarketing, restaurant, automobile dealerships and telecommunications, etc. In addition, he has assisted companies in bankruptcy, provided expert witness services regarding marital dissolution and forensic accounting services.
Mr. Beck has been a guest lecturer at the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. He authorized a white-paper on “How Should Your Business Be Taxed”. He is a member of Southern California Business Network International where he has served as president of his local chapter three times. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Sherri S. Davis, EA (Principal/Senior Manager):
Sherri S. Davis, EA started her tax and accounting career in 1995 working with the CPA firm of Holder and Zimmerman, Inc. While working there she earned her Associate of Arts degree in Accounting. In February 2018 she earned the right to practice before the Internal Revenue Service with the status of Enrolled Agent (EA). She joined the tax & accounting CPA firm of Gregory W. Beck, CPA, A Professional Corporation in 2017. Her experience includes specialization in real estate partnerships, corporations, high-net worth individuals and not for profit entities. She also has a niche in estate and trusts. Sherri has 2 children, a 27-year-old daughter pursuing a Masters in Oceanic Chemistry at the University of Hawaii and a 10-year-old son at St. Paul’s Lutheran School. She has embraced the opportunity to build many long-lasting relationships with mutual advisors, clients & their families. Her favorite pastimes are attending baseball games, camping and spending free time with friends and family.
Romualdo (Jay R.) Martinez, EA, MST (Senior Tax Accountant):
Romualdo (Jay R.) Martinez earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accounting in 2012, Master’s in Taxation in 2019 and completed his Enrolled Agent status with the Internal Revenue Service in 2022. Jay R. has nearly twenty years of business and operations management. His experience in taxation includes partnerships, corporations; and high net-worth individuals. Jay R. enjoys servicing clients in the real estate industry and though Jay R. does not practice real-estate, he holds a real estate license to better service our clients in real estate. He is currently preparing to sit for the CPA exam. In January of 2022 Jay R. joined the Tax & Accounting team at Gregory W. Beck, CPA, A Professional Corporation where he holds the position of Senior Tax Accountant. His favorite pastimes include reading tax code, jogging, cycling, building high performance motors, and working on his classic cars. His favorite movie is Wall Street. Due to the rigorous demands of our industry, Jay R. has been dedicated to his career and has remained single for the last ten years.
Johnetta J. Hall (Tax Accountant):
Johnetta J. Hall earned her Bachelor of Science degree (BS) in Administration and Marketing in 2019. In July 2023 she joined the tax and accounting firm of Gregory W. Beck, CPA, A Professional Corporation where she holds the position of Tax Accountant. Johnetta is eager and determined to further her professional experience in accounting and taxation. She is currently preparing to become an Enrolled Agent. She takes a strong interest in estate and trust accounting where she works closely with her supervisor, Sherri Davis. Johnetta’s hobbies are hiking, ice skating, writing, and networking.
Support Staff
Zsofia E. Provencio (Administrative Specialist):
Zsofia E. Provencio earned her Associates of Science degree in Law Office Administration in 2021. She has over 15 years’ experience in banking operations and customer service. She joined Gregory W. Beck, CPA, A Professional Corporation in February 2022, becoming an integral part of our team. She facilitates our daily operating procedures ranging from administrative to operations. She is the first person you see when arriving at our offices and is the voice you hear answering the phone when you call us. Zsofia became a Notary Public in 2021. She is an avid pet lover. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Brenda L. Beck (Administrative Assistant):
Brenda L. Beck has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from California State Fullerton. She joined Gregory W. Beck, CPA, A Professional Corporation in July 2022 where her duties include electronic filing of returns and e-signatures of client documents. She is also our accounts payable and accounts receivable clerk. Brenda volunteers for various organizations in her free time and loves to go to Disneyland, Diamond Painting and spending time with her two Dachshunds.
IT Department
Max Copley (IT Manager):
Max L Copley, MCP, has been working with Information Technology since 1985 when he started at Sun Computers of Southern California. In 1986, Max co-founded an IT Network sales company, Data Command. In 1988, Max created a new company specializing in PC Support for mid to large businesses, called Copley & Associates. During this time, Max earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems from California State University in 2001. In 2002, Max founded I.T. Partners, focusing on the small business marketplace specializing in security and IT support. Max went back to school in 2005 and began work on his Master of Arts degree, which he completed in 2008 in Urban Cultural and Pastoral Studies at Azusa Pacific University. Max joined the team at Gregory W. Beck, CPA in 2019 as the I.T. Manager and has helped shepherd the organization into best practices in Internet Security, and PC Network software and hardware infrastructure. Max has one daughter and loves spending time with his 2 grandchildren.
